On June 5, 2024, the partners of the Erasmus+ project Train to Sustain (T2S) – ATU (Ireland), IDEA (Poland), BC Naklo (Slovenia), and Cia Toscana (Italy) – convened in Warsaw for their second transnational meeting to outline the activities for the coming months.
For approximately two months, a fact-finding survey has been underway, targeting teachers and trainers to assess their knowledge of sustainable production and food waste reduction practices.
Preliminary analysis of the results shows that in Italy, the vast majority of respondents consider it extremely important or important to integrate food sustainability into all levels of education. Furthermore, the data suggests that, in general, current teaching curricula already incorporate sustainability themes, highlighting their growing centrality and relevance.
In the coming months, partners will focus on identifying case studies of existing food sustainability training and education programs within their respective countries. Additionally, each partner country will host a stakeholder engagement and training event. These sessions will serve as a platform for reflection on current sustainability practices and will lay the groundwork for new strategies in sustainability management and waste reduction.
The collaborative efforts and insights from all stakeholders will be vital in identifying the specific training needs of each country. This feedback will be fundamental in shaping the final Train to Sustain educational framework.
